Lately I have been seeing posts such as “I wish I was pretty” and “losing weight is always on my mind” all over my dash and it really gets to me, because the people who post these things are beautiful! Society has pushed a false idea of how we all should look into our faces, long legs; big boobs, flat stomach etc. and we all think that is how we should look. Well it’s not. We are all different, unique and special. No one should be allowed to tell you that you’re not any of those things, because you are! You might not feel beautiful, and probably have things that you hate about yourself, we all do, but what we all need to start doing is embracing the things we love about ourselves instead of focusing on the things we hate. There is at least one thing that everybody likes about themselves, whether it’s as small as a freckle or as obvious as something like your eyes, it still matters! I’ve struggled with low self esteem since I was about 10, and until recently I couldn’t find anything to love about myself. I was bitchy, I thought I was ugly and I thought I was fat. It took me until January this year to realise that, I can change the way I think about myself, just by telling myself that I am beautiful. Just that first step in telling yourself that you are beautiful is really important, even if you don’t believe it at first, you will in time realise that you, and everybody else around you is beautiful. Only then can we really appreciate the bigger things that matter in life, not just appearances.
